The IEE Wiring Regulations 16th Edition

These are the rules and guidelines which all electricians must follow when designing and working on all domestic & commercial electrical installations in the EU.

These ensure that any electrician who does any work, does it correctly and safely.

Any electrician who doesn't have these qualifications might not be doing things right which could lead to problems on the future.

Fuse box Replacement

Before you replace your fusebox (Consumer Unit) you must ensure you have an isolator switch installed between your electricity meter and your fusebox.

This is required so the fusebox can be safely replaced without having to pull out the main fuse.

It is illegal to remove this main fuse as everything before the fusebox belongs to Scottish Power as they own the National Grid and all its equipment.

Any one who tampers with there equipment, can be fined and given a criminal conviction.

Unfortunately, it costs £160 to have them come out and fit one.

Make sure you get this done before you get an electrician to replace your Fusebox!
